Rise From The Ashes
I believe that as a society, we're only truly beginning to understand the internet and it's capabilities now. How many people do you know who have a spiritual practice; whether that's doing yoga, meditation, a practice of gratitude, or reading spiritual texts?
How many of those people were doing those practices 10 years ago?
There are a few things that are undeniable... We're experiencing a mass spiritual awakening, people are wanting to be seen and heard and connected to each other. For years, we've been fed with a societal standard of perfection, wanting to look, be, be perceived as perfect. We were fed that we always needed to newest and best toys (newest iphone, fashions, material superiority), and I think now, people are waking up from this dream. And I think a lot of it has been pushing into people awareness, whether they like it or not, by this election season.
And what's even more interesting... This is all written in the stars. The rebellion, the uneasy feeling we all have that something big is coming. We don't know what it looks like, and some are becoming fearful and more divisive by that feeling.
What I'm interesting in is using my small corner of the interwebs to share and spread my journey, and the practices I've adapted into my life that've changed my course, in order to show that true, lasting change is not only possible, but that it's waiting for you. Your life, every possible dream you could ever fathom for yourself... True, blissful, radiating til your heart's content, is ready and waiting for you to commit to change.
And when we share our stories, we enable and give permission for others to do the same.
When we take the courageous step to stop living in the confined walls of safety, where we tip-toe around in our lives to be sure we'll never get close to an edge, for fear of falling, that we're never able to make great changes or experience great triumph either. We can go years living a monotonous, mediocre, ho-hum life; and hey! If that's what floats your boat and makes you happy, more power to you!
I'm talking to the people who envision themselves in higher circumstances, living their dreams, without fear of failure or falling. And sometimes the journey to the top takes those pitfalls too.
That's exactly what I shared today. My story. My biggest pitfall.
For (almost EXACTLY) 6 months, my 2015 gave me blow... after blow, after BLOW.
Some call those 'signs'. Some call it God trying to wake you up and get your attention, because if it doesn't feel right; you should trust that intuition inside of you... And whether sooner or later, it's going to come out. The longer you wait, the more you'll have to deal with. Whether this looks like something in your internal (emotional baggage, trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction) or external world (abusive relationship, miserable marriage, unhappiness at job, inability to connect with others).. You can resist and deny and let these adversities ruin your life, or you can turn around and face them head on.
This is the part where people back down, where the fight or flight response is triggered. What would happen if you shared that story?
Keeping it inside holds you prisoner, it allows that deep secret to have power over you. When we release that, it no longer holds power over us, that's the first step in letting it go, and gaining our lives back. When we can show up in our own lives with empathy and compassion for others by way of saying: Here is my deepest and my darkest, this is where I've come from.
From there, we're able to connect with each other and only then can true healing and change be born.
Waking up every day with a heaviness, for instance, just a week ago when I woke up the morning after the election results had been announced, that first breath was filled with a great sorrowful heaviness, I couldn't believe that this was happening. I literally thought it had to be a dream.
That's no way to live. I could have allowed that heavy darkness to overcome me, being searching for people to blame and feeling like a victim who's been wronged in the worst way, not accepting the reality of what's going on... OR, understanding that sitting around blaming others won't do anything to change the current situation, but what I CAN do are things like: Join peaceful protests, donate to organizations that may come under attack (judging from the Trump/Pence administration during the campaign trail), and TALK TO PEOPLE!!!
One of the most powerful ways to build a more peaceful society is by breaking down barriers, and communicating.
Tolerance is something that seems to be disappearing day-by-day, let's build it back up!
Initiate conversation with friends and family! It may be a little uncomfortable at first, but sometimes true connection stems from a bit of discomfort.
Here's to rebirth!!
