Opening Authentic Communication

I’m aware that pretty, neutral posts offend no one. They also change nothing. (As much as a post, as a page, can change anything, that is.)

Yoga is as much about learning as it is unlearning. Discovering, and making peace with, yourself on so many deeper levels. I've been reading on and integrating a lot of chakra balancing into my practice in recent months. It's sharpened my memory, and I now remember so much more of my past. Chasing back imbalances to their circumstances and situations, figuring out when 'this' or 'that' thing happened in my life that shaped me into who I am today. One thing it's taught me is that I'm passionate about speaking honestly, however ostracized it's made me, but I've been so inspired by this movement that I see growing all around me. I'm starting to uncover the gifts I've been blessed with.

Every day I hear more and more stories about communities growing and so much great work being done. After the election I feel like people are moving with more force toward what they feel driven to in terms of giving service. We're finally starting to figure out what the internet is capable of. The many different ways we're able to connect and lift each other up.

Recently, at a yoga workshop with my teacher, Annie Carpenter, we briefly brought attention to the recent election results and how now more than ever is time to spread and share any goodness we can to others. This includes speaking our truth, showing up to our lives, keeping ourselves in as inspired, present and enlivened state as we can. By moving freely in the way we want to move, we give permission for others to do the same.

The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

Just like on the night of the election, I wanted to get out my Conscious Spirit Oracle deck. Holiday parties can be somewhat stressful, bringing friends and families together, I had started putting pressure on myself for everyone to have a great time, and for everything to go smoothly. Once I finally released a lot of my anxieties to my fiance before bed last night,  he reminded me that these situations only hold power over me when I create expectations. That we're just hosting another great dinner with our friends and family, and that it's going to be a blast.

I grabbed my oracle deck and while shuffling, was thinking 'anything that will be helpful in remaining present tomorrow.'.

A part of my family's Thanksgiving tradition is that before we start eating we all go around the table and tell a little story of what we're most thankful for.

In the last year, my life has changed so drastically. So much is new and different for me.

I'm really like a different (upgraded!) version of myself. Mostly all of it has been through internal growth. Holing myself up to totally deconstruct and realign myself with who I am currently, stripped of so much baggage I'd been holding onto. My relationships with my family are different, my companion, and I've finally come to the realization that I very much enjoy creating space for myself to meet new people and connect with people who really SEE me.

That's it. While I'm discovering this 'new' self, I'm allowing myself to be seen. It's been really exhilarating for me, connecting through communication. Something I'm really excited to explore, dive into, and share with as many as I can.

Vulnerability is like walking into the unknown, but trusting that you're being guided a way that won't abandon you. It's courage to show yourself. It's the most inspiring feeling, for me, at least.
